The Early Sixes are an American acoustic driven folk-pop ensemble forged in the heart of Chicago. The band was formed in 2012, naturally evolving from friendships into musical partnerships in basements, apartments and bars across Chicagoland. The Early Sixes take a collaborative and hands-on approach to songwriting and recording, with every member contributing to the creative process. Tracks typically stem from a traditional singer-songwriter foundation, blending folk and pop into an exploration of a story or idea expanded through the lens of the group and developed into a layered composition influenced by each member’s diverse musical style and sensibilities.
The Early Sixes are Matt Charoenrath (vocals, guitar), Sam Zuba (bass, vocals), Nate Meyer (cello), Dan Zuba (guitar), Ben Peterson (piano, guitar) and Ben Zuba (percussion). With a stripped-down but high-energy acoustic sound, the band will often perform live with different variations of the core lineup.
