ABOUT THE BAND
The Early Sixes are an American acoustic driven folk-pop ensemble forged in the heart of Chicago. The band was officially formed in late 2012, naturally evolving from friendships into musical partnerships in basements, apartments and bars across Chicagoland. The Early Sixes are Matt Charoenrath (vocals, guitar), Dan Zuba (guitar), Sam Zuba (bass, vocals), Nate Meyer (cello), Ben Peterson (piano, guitar) and Ben Zuba (percussion). With a stripped-down but high-energy acoustic sound, the band will often perform live with different variations of the core lineup.
ABOUT ‘LET’S GO EXPLORING’
The Early Sixes debut single “Let’s Go Exploring” reflects on the idealism of youth when imagination can chart a course for adventure. The inspiration for the track stemmed from singer Matt Charoenrath’s love for the Calvin and Hobbes series in his youth. Seeing the spark of imagination ignite in his own young son as he began his own explorations into a new world illuminated an idea to create a musical guide to embrace innocence and creativity and live each day as a new expedition. That concept would evolve into a fully realized composition thanks to the musical contributions of bandmates Dan Zuba, Nate Meyer and Sam Zuba. It would also help the group establish The Early Sixes’ layered, yet raw, acoustic-driven signature sound. The completion of “Let’s Go Exploring” would soon help the group gain momentum on their songwriting journey toward their first full-length album. Look for it in the summer of 2018.
